The Merriweather Council‘? – Where did that come from?
The phrase “Merriweather Council” originated when I was in 8th grade as a code name for Girl Scouts. My friends and I didn’t want people to know we were still in Girl Scouts because it was “uncool” even though Girl Scouts is awesome and our troop was just a bunch of friends. “Merriweather” comes from Lewis Meriwether {yes, I spelled it wrong, but if you ask me, my spelling is way cuter} of Lewis and Clark who we learned about in Mr. Kilkenny’s American History class. (yes, his name was actually Kilkenny.) We needed a code name and that was the first crazy random thing that came to mind – originally we used the term “Merriweather Council Foundation Association” but that was a little lengthy.
That’s the story of how the Merriweather Council got its name! Fond memories = future business names

Where do you find those awesome vintage fabrics you use in your hoops?
I have searched the far reaches of the earth for my materials! Well, no… not the entire Earth, but definitely the Northeastern United States!
Most of my vintage fabrics were obtained at the Brimfield Antique Market in Brimfield, MA. It’s a huge antique fair that happens a few times a year in the summer. We found this one awesome antique textiles vendor who let us sort through all her boxes for an hour, she asked if we would be staying for dinner! She was so awesome. Definitely visiting her again this summer!
How long does it take to make one of these Wishbone stitch embroideries?
It takes me about an hour to an hour and a half to complete the stitching part of a 3 inch wishbone stitch embroidery. Then I do all the finishing which only takes about 3 minutes. For a four inch hoop it takes maybe 2 hours. I don’t usually sit and do one from start to finish but I have and it took about that long.

Hello hello! Thanks for stopping by! This is where I come to report about the good, the very good and the sometimes strange experiences of being a crafty entrepreneur.
