BROOKLYN, NEW YORK. Danielle (that’s me) CEO, President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, and Summer Intern at Boston based crafty biz The Merriweather Council taught participants to embroider at Etsy Labs on monday night. Following a short demo which was live streamed to Etsy.com, Danielle did group and individual demonstations for local folks who stopped by Etsy headquarters between 4 and 8 pm.
“It was fun!” Danielle said of the experience, “I’ve never taught anyone anything ever and so I think it went pretty well considering…” she explained with a shoulder shrug.
Danielle, pictured above sitting in the ever famous “Etsy photobooth,” arrived at the lab around 4:30 after briefly getting lost in DUMBO. “I asked this random guy if he knew where Washington Ave was, and he was like, umm it’s not anywhere near here and I like, nearly had a heart attack!” Danielle explained. “Anyway, turns out I needed Washington Street not Ave… kinda silly to have two so similar in the same little area, but whatever. I told him I was going to Etsy, he thought it was a restaurant! Then he asked me out for lunch! I was like ummm…. no, sorry gotta go.”
Despite this minor set back, Danielle arrived at the labs in time to help prep for the livestream and chat with Etsy Admin. “Etsy is super awesome – not just online – in real life too – I’ve been there before, it’s so colorful and crafty. That’s kinda how I like most things to be, so, I love it.”
Danielle was seen sporting her Made in Lowell pincushion ring at the event and told anyone who asked where it came from and encouraged them to get one for themselves. “It’s just so cute! Don’t you think?! I just adore it!” She smiled as she showed her needle felted darling off.
Reports from the Twittersphere were positive and viewers even commented on Danielle’s nail color, “Essie Tangerine! Cute right? This is the only time I’ll get my nails done as a business expense. I’m so not into getting my nails done – I thought my fingers were bleeding yesterday when I got a glimpse of them out of the corner of my eye.” She laughed with an eye roll.
The night ended and Danielle turned back into a pumpkin… Just kidding, she didn’t! But pumpkin is trending these days and so I had to stick it in somewhere.
