MassArt Auction 2011

I attended the MassArt Annual Benefit Art Auction this past weekend! It is a pretty swanky event at the college and it’s a huge fundraiser for the school. There’s a red carpet, no big deal….

For two years in school I worked in the office that puts on this event and so I feel a little attachment to it, because I know it’s a lot of hard work and it’s a super big deal. Lots of wonderful people work to get the show together each year and it always draws a big crowd and there are some big name pieces in the show! The auctioneer of the Live Auction is really fun too – she doesn’t speak super fast and she is really interactive with the bidders. It’s a pretty great time.

Here’s the outfit I wore which I lamented about for ten minutes (which isn’t a long time really but I pride myself on not lamenting for more then 3-4 minutes over what I am wearing.)

One of my Wishbone stitch circles was in the silent auction this year! And I’m super happy to announce that it sold for it’s Buy-It-Now price! Yippee!!  The circle is 8 inches in diameter….

I had a piece in last year’s auction as well:
It was titled “Cramps” – made of red cotton poly fabric, white tulle and ibuprofen pills. Do you know what it’s about? ;)
My buddy Pat had a piece in the show as well, which also sold!
Some other Highlights from the night included dancing to Lady Gaga before the live auction, Chuck Close portrait made of paper pulp, yummy orange Bellini drinks with cherries, and a piece by Leah Giberson, one of my favorite painters who I met recently at a SOWA show – she’s also a MassArt Alum which is so awesome!
