Before I say what I came here to say, I want to say something else: take it or leave it, but this is what I think. Personal opinion.

Here are some things I think about a lot…

create new reality – yellow

The thing that should matter most to you about your business is that you are doing what you want, your way, with your chosen materials, and that you are doing it well.

If your craftsmanship is iffy – so is your product, so is it’s value, and so is your business.

You should care more about your craftsmanship than the number of sales you have.

You should care more about the integrity of your product than the number of sales you have.

I don’t care if it’s the freaking cutest thing I’ve ever seen in my life. If you’re mean, unappreciative, pompous or in serious need of a big embrace from reality – I don’t want whatever it is. It’s not cute anymore.

I say this with love. It’s easy to get discouraged about number of sales. There are more important things.

That’s all.

This is a for profit blog and includes a few affiliate links. This means that if you purchase something through one of these links, I may receive a small commission. I only bother suggesting products or services that I have used and loved because if you buy something on my suggestion and hate it that would suck. So I only suggest things i’m 99% sure you’ll love as much as I do.

  1. well said!

  2. Word up.

  3. true words of wisdom, Esmeralda.

  4. Two thumbs up!

  5. So true. I think a lot of us forget about that sometimes.

  6. This is a great post. Although, I would like to add that many times the nice guy finishes last. Most people want what they want and if it's an item that everyone seems to covet, they'll buy it. Regardless of customer service/quality of character of shop owner. I have experienced this first hand with some very successful handmade shops. Just an observation. But, YOU seem to have it ALL going for you!! :D Also….I ADORE, ADORE, ADORE 'Make New Reality' and thank YOU for your wonderful customer service. You're going places!!

  7. Agreed – thanks for writing this!

  8. Amen sister!! I agree wholeheartedly too. Put every bit of love into whatever you make it doesn't matter how many you sell or you dont sell at least YOU know its fabulous!!

  9. Thank you! I'm just starting out and trying to do all the right things and sometimes forgetting the more important aspects and enjoy the process at the sametime. : )

I just started on twitter too (I don't update too often). So many things to learn…@mayabki

  10. Amen sister!!
