The Merriweather Council at Etsy Labs

Merriweather Stitchery

It’s true – I’m going to be doing a Craft Night at Etsy in Brooklyn!

We are going to learn some very basic embroidery techniques and stitches and there will be a handout! *collective swoon -owwhhh handouts* and all the materials are going to be provided by the fine folks at Etsy. The project I proposed to teach was simplified mandala making. Basically, working in a circle with colors and imagery specific to the artist at the time of their making the mandala. Obviously, mandalas have a much richer and longer history than that. But for a 3 hour craft night event, that’s about all we need to know.

This is a sample I made of the project – no it won’t be put in a hoop – that added a whole other level to the evening and this is much more casual and laid back to just work on a square piece of fabric.

You should come if you are in the NYC area!! No really, you should! And then if you do, you should say you saw this post and we can laugh about it! How snazztastic would that be!?

You can find more details about attending here.

If you can’t come (super sad face) you can watch me do a little demo on the livestream. (SCARYPANTS!) But you have to promise not to laugh at me.

The event will be August 15th… I’ll post more details about the livestream (umm… maybe) as we get closer.

Come to Brooklyn!!

I only bother suggesting products or services that I have used and loved because if you buy something on my suggestion and hate it that would suck.
